Title: SÓ VENENO
The album "Só veneno" ("Only Poison") by the Banda Alibi de Orfeu
(Orpheus's Alibi Band) brings a fine mixture of hard rock with the
best of pop, and an elegant dash of MPB, which perfects the formula
created by the group at the end of the 80s when it became a point of
reference within the world of Paraense rock.
The presence of versatile and talented musicians and the sophisticated
production of none other than Edgard Scandurra (formerly of Ira!)
contribute to what promises to be one of the best rock albums of 2010.
The title track "Só veneno" which opens the album gives us a taste of
what is to come: a striking voice framed by an infectious guitar line,
intelligent and creative backing guitar, not to mention that in this
track we have the illustrious presence of the guitarist Roberto Frejat
(formerly of Barão Vermelho) who adds a rock solo. Next comes "Espaço
de Ninguém" and "Nossa Torre de Babel", where Scandurra gives us the gift of a lovely acoustic guitar solo.
The album has numerous highlights, but perhaps the hard rock version
of "Ando meio desligado" stands out the most, as it adds something new
to the original Mutantes' song. Other highlights are "Quem disse que
a vida era facil?", "Confissões”, “Agora, não!”, and "Janelas" that
help maintain the strong rock and roll feel throughout the entire
album.
O disco “Só veneno” da Banda Álibi de Orfeu traz uma mistura fina de hard rock com o melhor do pop, com uma pitada elegante de MPB, que aperfeiçoa a fórmula criada pelo grupo ainda no final dos anos 80, quando se tornou uma referência dentro do rock paraense.
A presença de músicos versáteis e competentes, com a produção sofisticada de nada menos que Edgard Scandurra (ex-Ira!) contribui para gerar o que promete ser um dos melhores álbuns de rock do ano de 2010.
A faixa título, “Só Veneno, que abre o disco já nos dá uma amostra do que teremos pela frente. Uma voz marcante emoldurada por uma guitarra contagiante, com bases inteligentes e criativas, sem esquecer que nesta faixa temos a ilustre presença do guitarrista Roberto Frejat (ex-Barão Vermelho) que contribui com um solo totalmente rock and roll. Depois vem “Espaço de Ninguém” e “Nossa Torre de Babel”, onde Scandurra nos presenteia com um belíssimo solo de violão.
O disco tem vários destaques, mas talvez seja a versão hard rock de “Ando meio desligado” que mais chama atenção, pois acrescenta algo novo à canção original dos Mutantes. Outros destaques são “Quem disse que a vida era fácil?”, “Confissões”, “Agora, não!” e “Janelas” que ajudam manter a pegada firme e rock n´roll por todo o disco.
